Hearts played this home match at Murrayfield Stadium, instead of their regular stadium Tynecastle due to ongoing renovations. On 28 December, the Dons re-signed Niall McGinn on a three and a half year contract after he terminated his contract with Gwangju. On 21 September, Aberdeen were knocked out of the League Cup at the quarter-final stage, being comfortably beaten 3–0 by Motherwell. Season was Aberdeen's 104th season in the top flight of Scottish football and the fifth in the Scottish Premiership.
On 17 June, Jonny Hayes signed for Celtic for £1.3 million plus a season-long loan for Ryan Christie. Christie had been on loan at the club for the second half of last season. Industrial Action
There will be no services before 7.15am due to signal boxes across the country opening at different times throughout the day following strike action by RMT members of Network Rail. The Dons ended the pre-split fixtures with a 2–0 win against Dundee at Dens Park, with Sam Cosgrove scoring both goals taking his season tally up to 20. The post-split fixtures were announced with the Dons away to Kilmarnock and Rangers, then home matches against Celtic and Hearts, and finishing the season at Easter Road against Hibernian. After the comfortable 2–0 win over Hearts, the two managers had a spat beginning with Craig Levein claiming after the match they should have had 2 penalties. McInnes responded saying they "moan about this and that" but "the best team won".
The Dons also rejected bids for defender Scott McKenna and winger Gary Mackay-Steven. The Dons completed the year with a win against Livingston, placing fourth in the table. It was also announced the club will have their winter training camp again in Dubai. Later subsequently whilst in Dubai, striker Sam Cosgrove was awarded player of the month for December and manager Derek McInnes was awarded manager of the month for December. Killing it at the NBA Summer league, winning Gold Medals in the Olympics, & winning MVP titles.

This season, the team will play a total of nine home contests in the morning or afternoon, while 11 of Long Island’s home games will be played on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. On 12 March, midfielders Kenny McLean and Ryan Christie, and for the first-time defender Scott McKenna, were called up to the Scotland squad for friendlies against Costa Rica and Hungary. McKenna earned his first cap by starting the match against Costa Rica and played the full 90 minutes. Before the Scottish Cup match against St Mirren, Craig Storie was released and Frank Ross signed a new deal until 2019 and then immediately loaned to Greenock Morton until the end of the season. During the Scottish Football winter break, and as in the previous year, the Dons headed off to Dubai for a week of winter training and played against Uzbekistan side Lokomotiv Tashkent in a friendly in which they lost 2–0. On 4 May, Aberdeen lost 3–0 at home to Celtic, handing their opponents an eighth league title in a row. Captain Graeme Shinnie announced he signed a 3 year deal on a pre-contract for Derby County. He was also named in the Premier League Team of the Year, whilst Lewis Ferguson was nominated for Young Player of the Year. On 10 May, the Dons won their final home game of the season with a 2–1 win against Hearts. A few days after the match, back-up Goalkeeper Tomáš Černý signed a new one-year deal. Even after a stunning goal from Stephen Dobbie, Aberdeen seen off Queen of the South with a 4–1 win in the Scottish Cup at Pittodrie.
All registered players will receive a Long Island Nets t-shirt and will play in a minimum of three games. Winning teams in each division will receive a trophy along with four complimentary tickets to the Long Island Nets’ home opener this November where they will be recognized on-court during halftime. Registration for the 3v3 tournament is $160 per team and the deadline to register is Friday, Aug. 5. After weeks of speculation, McInnes rejected an eventual approach by Sunderland on 15 June and committed his future to the Dons until 2019. Subsequently, only a few days later, he and assistant Tony Docherty, signed a one-year contract extension, keeping them with the club until the summer of 2020. There was yet more trouble for Dons fans, this time during the match and after the final whistle. The club looked into this incident, in which later both clubs were fined by UEFA. On 26 June, after being linked with Sunderland with manager McInnes, 'keeper Joe Lewis signed a new deal to keep him at the club until 2020.
Manager McInnes later said after the match, that he "intends to come back to another final with Aberdeen and I intend to win another trophy", with his only success with the club coming in the 2014 Final. On 15 July, the friendly match between the Dons and Cove Rangers was abandoned after 50 minutes due to a severe head injury to Cove Rangers player Jordon Brown. After sustaining an injury in the match, the Dons announced defender Mark Reynolds was ruled out until the end of the year having to undergo knee surgery. On 25 June, Executive Vice-Chairman George Yule announced that he would be leaving his role following major surgery, said to be "a prostate cancer scare" but he explained he was "heading towards full recovery". On 26 June, Scotland Under-21 International Daniel Harvie, who was released last season as he wanted regular football, signed for Ayr United.

All of Long Island's home games will be featured regionally on WRHU Radio Hofstra University 88.7 FM, and a full broadcast schedule will be released by the NBA G League at a later date.
